Our archery Idaho elk hunts are conducted form tent
camps in a designated wilderness in the Nez Perce
National Forest, Idaho Game Management Unit 15. Most
of the timber in the remote region is lodge pole pine
dense enough to provide the necessary cover for a
bow hunter. Our Bow hunts occur in September when
the bulls are bugling (in rut) and during a bow only
season providing the archer with an excellent opportunity
to take a mature bull, a qualifying entry in the Pope
and Young records. Our guides have years of experience
and can get you close to your target. Most shot opportunities
will be in the 10-20 yard range.
Transportation to and from hunting camp is by horseback
requiring about 3 1/2 hours depending on the camp
location. Horses are used some at the hunting camp
but most hunting will be done on foot. Hunting Elevation
will range from 5,000 to 8,000 feet. Prior physical
conditioning is recommended and will contribute to
a more enjoyable hunt.
Elk hunting archery trips are 7 days in length including
one day in and one day out of camp, providing 5 full
days of elk hunting. The number of elk hunters per
camp will usually be 4, the maximum six unless advance
arrangements have been made.
